Strengthening industrial relations in Mexico: Labour dispute prevention and access to labour justice with a gender approach
The newly created labour justice institutions are still facing challenges in the implementation of the reforms. Employers’ and workers’ organizations need to increase their capacity to act within the revised model of industrial relations. If action is not taken in both fronts, the existing challenges may pose a significant risk to not achieving the overall goal of the labour reform. The project is developed as a complement of the implementation of the labour reform serving as a continuity of the process at state and federal level. The implementation of the project will allow to increase the capacity of the tripartite actors to implement successfully all the features of the labour law reform and build a solid ground for sound labour relations. The proposed activities are constructed around two main pillars: one related to the prevention of labour disputes, by reinforcing the capacity of social partners regarding freedom of association and collective bargaining and the capacity of the staff of labour justice institutions to deal with the prevention and resolution of disputes; and the other on compliance, related to the reinforcement of labour justice institutions, judicial and non-judicial, to better respond to the challenges of the new model in the delivering judicial decisions and conciliation, respectively.
