Institutional Strengthening To Accelerate Actions For TB & Drug Resistant TB In India

Institutional Strengthening to Accelerate Actions for Tuberculosis (TB) and Drug Resistant TB (DR-TB) in India is USAID/India's flagship TB project. The project is being implemented by The International Union against TB and Lung diseases (The Union) led consortium, consisting of six other partners. The ILO in India is implementing HIV/TB prevention project in the world of work since 2001. Project is being implemented under the guiding principles of Recommendation 200 (R 200) and HIV/TB policy framework developed by the Ministry of labour and Employment based on technical assistance provided by the ILO. The ILO and The Union have also collaborated in 2017 to reach out to world of work to contribute to elimination of TB. The purpose of this engagement is to strengthen implementation of TB Free Workplace by developing appropriate tools, communication materials, advocacy, and framework under Corporate TB Pledge (CTP) initiative. A TB Free Workplace toolkit is planned to develop for corporates and other organizations to help them initiate/scale up their TB in the world of work under this collaboration, containing the guiding documents on TB Free Workplaces and some customisable communication and training material. Co-branding of online training tool is another important deliverable under this collaboration. Role of the ILO is to review and provide inputs on the course developed by iDEFEAT TB Project as part of modernised training system including health volunteer training course and TB Free Workplace with the joint branding of the ILO along with other stakeholders. The ILO is responsible for promoting the course at international level using its networks and field colleagues. One of the key area of the ILO is also to work with its international partners, including the WHO and others and facilitate sharing of the Corporate TB Pledge initiative as good practices in webinars/ other international events under this collaboration. The ILO has agreed to organize an online experience sharing webinar (India Case study) on TB workplace responses involving national and international partners.
