Enhancing Decent Work and Productivity on the Textile and Garment Supply Chains for Nepal's LDC Graduation
This intervention supports key stakeholders in Nepal to promote decent work and increase productivity in the textile and garment supply chains and to consider labour issues in trade and investment policies, facilitating a smooth graduation from status of least-developed country (LDC) in 2026. The intervention targets ILO constituents, economic units (particularly women-led businesses) and workers (particularly women, home-based, and workers in the informal economy) in selected supply chains in the country. The ultimate beneficiaries are workers and enterprises in the textile and garment supply chains. The intervention is implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security, the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies, the Trade and Export Promotion Centre, workers’ and employers’ organizations, the European Union and the International Trade Centre. The expected results include an evidence-based integrated national plan for decent work and productivity promotion for textile and garment supply, strengthened institutional capacity of tripartite constituents to promote decent work and productivity in supply chains, an expanded knowledge base on LDC graduation’s implications and trade-employment links, and improved monitoring systems on trade and labour conditions.
