Preparing Timor Leste's workers and policy makers for just transition and the formal economy
This intervention supports ILO constituents in Timor-Leste to address the challenges of economic diversification and transition to environmentally sustainable production. The intervention targets and is implemented in partnership with governmental bodies led by the Vice-Prime Minister office which include Ministry Coordinating Economic Affairs and Ministry of Tourism and Environment, the Secretariat of State for Vocational Training and Employment, the Timor-Leste Trade Union Confederation and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Timor-Leste. The ultimate beneficiaries are workers, notably youth and women, transitioning to greener economies and aiming to transit toward the formal economy. The expected results include improved, green-oriented economic diversification policies and mechanisms to facilitate access of citizens, including youth and women in rural and informal economic settings, to services and legal remedies, supporting enforcement and pursuance of rights and greater formality while transitioning towards greener economies.
