Realizing decent work in the platform economy through e-formalization in India
This intervention focuses on addressing informality by leveraging digital technology to foster formalization of women and men in India’s platform economy and aims to support the extension of labour and social protection to platform workers, aligning with India's G20 presidency priorities and standard-setting discussions at the International Labour Conference of the ILO. The intervention targets national and state governments, employers’ and workers’ organizations and other stakeholders in India. The ultimate beneficiaries are 7.7 million women and men working in the platform economy in the country. The intervention is implemented in partnership with the central trade unions, employer and business membership organizations, and national and state governments, along with platform companies. The expected results include the validation of the diagnostic studies by at least one state government, the adoption of integrated gender-responsive policies, and the development of a policy framework for central/state coordination with platform companies.
