Support for implementation of the Global Accelerator in Cambodia

This intervention aims at increasing coverage of social security and childcare services and promoting the transition of enterprises and workers to formalization in Cambodia. The intervention targets ILO constituents and enterprises in selected sectors such as agro-industry, tourism, construction, and garment. The end beneficiaries are workers (600,000 female workers in the garment sector and their families) and enterprises (30,000 micro enterprises in the agri-food/handicraft sector) in the selected sectors. The intervention is implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Industry, the Cambodian Federation of Employers and Business Associations, the National Trade Unions Confederation, sectoral associations and unions, and development partners including UNDP and UNICEF. The expected results include increased capacity of constituents to promote investments and decent work in the care economy; extension of social protection coverage to workers in the informal economy with strengthened capacity of the national institutions to effectively implement the national social protection strategies; and increased capacity of constituents in the implementation of the national formalization strategy.
