Strengthening national and provincial capacities in TIP reporting and referral for victims support
Pakistan faces challenges in effectively combating trafficking in persons due to limited capacity and resources. This project directly contributes to Pakistan's efforts to combat human trafficking and fulfill its obligations under international agreements, fostering a future where vulnerable populations are better protected. During its 12 months, and with a budget of AUD 170,000, the project strengthens national and provincial capabilities for reporting and addressing human trafficking. Building on an initial project (Phase -1: PAK/23/02/AUS) that established a Management Information System (MIS) for trafficking reporting within the Federal Investigative Agency (FIA), this phase focuses on two key components. Firstly, it bolsters infrastructure for the FIA hotline and referral system. This upgradation includes call center equipment, telecommunication devices, recording and monitoring systems, and secure data storage. Additionally, a pilot program complements the efforts of Department of Labour (DoL) ICT to establish a similar system for addressing child labour. Secondly, the project enhances the capacity of FIA and DoL staff. Trainings are designed to equip authorities with the necessary skills to effectively utilize the new systems and respond to trafficking cases with professionalism and proficiency. The project improves data collection for informed policy and program development, increased public trust in FIA's commitment to combating trafficking, and ultimately, a reduction in human trafficking cases across Pakistan.
