Mitigating the devastating effects of the crisis on Palestinian workers, employers and their families
Based on the decision of the ILO Governing Body in November 2023, and in accordance with its mandate under the defined priorities of the Decent Work Programme for the Occupied Palestinian Territory (2023–25), the ILO has developed its Emergency Response Plan (ERP) as a detailed proposal that maps out a series of interventions across three inter-connected pillars of Relief, Review and Recovery. In line with the ILO’s Employment and Decent Work for Peace and Resilience Recommendation (No. 205), 2017, the ERP builds on the ILO’s comparative advantage in post-disaster labour market recovery programmes and ensuring the integration of decent work principles into emergency relief and early recovery efforts in the Occupied Palestinian Territory. The ERP’s fundamental objective is to support national systems and strength the role of tripartite partners in mitigating the devastating impact of the crisis on workers, employers and their families. It recognizes how critical it is to work closely within the wider context of UN relief and recovery programming to address the emerging immediate needs of the Palestinian labour market.
