Building effective OSH qualification systems and improving access to national occupational health services
The project improves national OSH qualification systems and occupational health services (OHS) systems. This, in turn, strengthens national OSH systems and workplace-level OSH management. To achieve this, the project conducts research on OSH competency frameworks and education, gaining insights into various international approaches for training OSH professionals. The findings inform a practical guide for assessing and enhancing national OSH qualification systems, aiding countries in developing competency frameworks and training programs. This guide and the research findings support one or two countries in improving their OSH qualification systems and competency frameworks. The project also develops a practical guide for assessing national OHS systems. This guide helps countries understand their systems, identify gaps, and prioritize actions to build effective OHS strategies. The project assists at least one country in conducting this assessment and, through a participatory process, in identifying strategic actions for improvement. Both assessment methodologies are implemented simultaneously in the same country or countries to maximize synergies and impact, leveraging the complementary roles of occupational health services and OSH professionals in workplace management.
