Strengthening the capacity of ILO constituents and stakeholders including people living with HIV/AIDS to expand the word of work response to HIV/AIDS in India

Objective, expected outputs and outcomes: Goal: To contribute to the prevention of HIV/AIDS in the world of work by strengthening the capacity of the Ministry of Labour, the social partners and other relevant key actors. Key expected outputs: i) A policy or governmental guidelines on HIV/AIDS and the world of work developed through tripartite consultations. ii) Training manuals, advocacy materials and other practical tools for tripartite partners, Networks of PLWHAs and cooperative institutions. iii) Replicable models of care and support initiatives for PLWHAs, particularly focusing on income generating activities and skill development. Key Activities: 1. Mainstreaming of HIV/AIDS activities at the Ministry of Labour. 2. Technical support to the central national trade unions to develop and implement HIV/AIDS interventions in the world of work particularly in the informal sector through advocacy and training. 3. Mobilization of Cooperative Institutions in selected states with particular focus on rural cooperatives. 4. Setting up/strengthening PLWHA networks and developing innovative care and support programmes.
