Integrated Programme for Promotion of Employment in Argentina
The AREA Programme is one of the central Technical Cooperation initiatives set up by the ILO in response to the economic and financial crisis that took place in Argentina in 2001. The programne is aimed at providing the Argentinean Government with technical support for the design and implementation of innovative, effective and comprehensive employment policies. The programme covers seven regions, distributed across the country. One of the key aspects of the programme is to create networks and partnerships among several stakeholders (such as public and private institutions and other relevant actors of the civil society) that can foster new employment opportunities through the promotion of micro and small enterprises and the utilization of local resources. Main objectives: 1) Technical assistance to the Ministry of Labour of Argentina in the innovative process of active employment policies. 2) Improve the employment services network and vocational training. 3) Configuration and consolidation of strategies for the local economic development (LED) integrated in the employment policies and the employment services, with emphasis in the promotion of micro and small enterprises.
