OBJECTIVES Improve the planning, programming and management capacity of the Ministry of Labour. Up-grade the employment service system and strengthen the labour market information capacity. Enhance the productivity of the labour inspection system. MAIN ACTIVITIES 2004 Training courses on: Labour market and employment analysis and planning (in Turin) Developing the inspection policy and organizing the inspection directorate (in Turin) Elaboration of a glossary on definitions and concepts related to labour market and employment Formulation first draft of labour inspection enforcement policy and checklist for inspectors 2005 Training courses on: Improving organisation, resources and operational functioning of the labour inspection Labour market information and public employment services 2006 Training courses on: Public employment service and professional career guidance (in Amman) Employment and labour market policy: the role of PES (in Turin) Developing a national programme on occupational safety and health (in Turin) Occupational safety and health in the agriculture sector (in Turin) Comparative study on the electronic labour exchange systems and application feasibility Equipment procurement and installation of the electronic labour exchange system (ELES) Finalization of papers and checklists on: Labour inspection enforcement policy The national occupational safety and health profile The inspectors’ handbook on procedures for field operations
