Global Compact and Safety and Health
This is a Public Private Partnership between the ILO, GTZ and Volkswagen, which aims to improve safety and health performance and to address HIV/AIDS issues amongst suppliers to the automotive sector, reducing worker absenteeism and improving productivity. The project also aims to improve the training of labour inspectors on occupational safety and health matters and on HIV/AIDS, and to help develop a methodology for preventive service systems in the 3 countries concerned. The main activities are carrying out of audits amongst suppliers, and providing training and information for suppliers and for labour inspectors. The project also led to the launch of a new ILO webpage “Better Safety and Health for Suppliers – a Public Private Partnership Project”: http://www.ilo.org/public/english/protection/safework/li_suppliers/
