- description:
- Selection of service providers
A lesson learned from this project is that the selection of service providers can be challenging. It should be secured that the service providers have the needed experience and human resources available to secure a successful implementation of the tasks they are contracted to fulfil. It should also be secured that the service providers can work without hands-on guidance and monitoring from project management
- context:
- The project engaged service providers which were challenged by the tasks they had committed to implement. One of the partners was fare from deliver the expected results, but the contract was not terminated.
As a result of the unsatisfactory delivery was the targets on Training for Employment not met.
- success:
- If strong service providers are chosen, the workload on project management will be less and human resources can be allocated for other needed interventions.
- challenges:
- It is a challenge to find qualified service providers, some NGOs have established commercial structures to be able to take up tasks on project implementation. It is however a challenge that these might be seen as implementing partners rather than service providers.
