recommendations:
title:
Ensure that future project designs incorporate regular follow-up dialogue with country stakeholders on the funding and human resource implications of sustainability and phase-out strategies that identify the roles, responsibilities and commitments of government stakeholders beyond project completion. The sustainability and phase-out strategies should identify roles and responsibilities and promote a dialogue with countries on funding and human resources implications for government stakeholders and constituents, to support the replication and/or scale-up of interventions beyond project completion. This would support the building of a broader coalition of parties interested in addressing OSH in GSCs, ultimately allowing greater impact in addressing OSH and a stronger commitment from all stakeholders, including international brands in each country.

action_plan:
All VZF teams, in consultation with constituents and stakeholders, will develop sustainability plans. These plans will identify specific areas of work that could be continued once the projects have ended
comments:
In Laos, where the project ended in March 2021, the project team held various rounds of consultations with project stakeholders to discuss the sustainability of project interventions. In 2020, a number of activities with potential for sustainability were identified. These activities were encapsulated in separate action plans for the coffee and garment supply chains, and were also captured in project's mid-term evaluation findings. Stakeholders identified activities that they will adopt and continue to implement after the project formally ends operations. To follow up on the sustainability action plans, the ILO Office in Lao received funding for a project that will build on the VZF project’s achievements in the coffee value chain.
