2. Gender transformative programming requires significant community mobilization and advocacy at local level, direct engagement with male and female community members, addressing multiple facets of gendered vulnerabilities, and the involvement of grassroots women’s groups, CBOs and networks. Gender transformative programming will also lay the groundwork for realization of the other five crosscutting themes, such as environmental preservation, HIV/AIDs awareness, conflict mitigation, life skills and job readiness and disability. This is because these themes call for sensitization and awareness creation at community level for behavior change.
